Children & Families

Welcome to the Children and Families section! There is such a wide range of activities to choose from that we hope you will find something you will be able to enjoy participating in with your child or children at the Glasshoughton Centre.

Our Family Groups

We were delighted to receive Big Lottery funding in October 2007 to develop our existing family learning programme for a further three years. We are very grateful for this as it has enabled us to work with some exceptional and talented tutors who have really made the activities we offer at the centre unique and innovative. We believe we have the ‘X factor’ when it comes to children and families! Come along and see for yourselves…

We are a welcoming centre and want you and your children to have great fun doing activities together. If you ever need anything then just ask me, Rachel. I coordinate the children and families project and I will do my very best to help you.

Floury Fingers

The Big Lottery doesn’t fund all the activities that are in the children and families programme at the centre, so a contact for the appropriate person is indicated where this is the case. Contact Rachel for all other sessions. Although the Big Lottery funding covers the costs of the tutors and resources, this in itself does not cover all the costs of running and maintaining the centre. Anyone attending the Big Lottery funded activities is not obliged to pay for the activity, but we would appreciate a small voluntary contribution of £2.00 per child per hour of activity, to ensure the centre can continue to run such a varied programme. Discounts are available for those with two or more children.

Where activities are funded by the Big Lottery, they do require adults to take part with their child - but we know it really is family learning at its very best!

Take a good look at the website and all the sessions we offer- I know you’ll be amazed at the variety of our activities which will open up a whole new world of learning for you and your children.

I look forward to meeting and working with you in the future at the Glasshoughton Centre- see you soon!
